Week of 10/15/23
Dear School Families,
This past Friday, I had the privilege of joining the 5th-grade students for Chapel Mass. Father Brendan's homily served as a poignant reminder that, as Christians, we have a deep hunger for Jesus. This spiritual longing finds its fulfillment through receiving Christ in the Eucharist during Mass.
Reflecting on the past few years, one of the most surreal experiences was our inability to attend Mass in person due to the pandemic. As time passes and we move further away from the severe restrictions of those early days, we must not forget the precious gift of being able to physically participate in Mass. It's a privilege that we should cherish, never taking it for granted. Let us all embrace the opportunity to attend Mass with a joyful heart.
Congratulations to Seminarian Joseph on his institution to the ministry of Acolyte as he continues on his journey to the priesthood. Please keep Joseph in your prayers!
A special thank you to the parish Crafty Ladies who donated $1,200 to our school. Thank you for your generous donation and continued support!
We would also like to thank our Mother’s Club Officers, Mrs. Bongiorni, Mrs. Napolitano, Mrs. Greenblum, and Mrs. Puliafito, our Father’s Club led by Mr. Ficchi, our class representatives and parent volunteers for both their recent contributions and their ongoing support in our various fundraising endeavors. Your commitment is truly appreciated!
Nurse Krissy will be sending out individual notifications regarding missing immunizations. Please note that students will not be able to return to school if compliance is not met as outlined in the memo.
PreK parents please start planning for your child’s flu shot if you have not already done so. All PreK students must receive a flu shot by 12/31/23 to continue in our program.
There are still a few 8th graders who have not registered for the TACHS exam. The deadline to register is 10/26/23. Please let Mrs. Miller or Mrs. Kneeshaw know if your child will not be taking the exam.
Our ADAPP counseling program is in full swing! Parents please be sure to email counselor Ivonia Byer ([email protected]) if you have any questions about the program or matters that you would like to discuss with her.
MAP Student Profile Reports will be sent home this week. These scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth. Teachers use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Thank you to all who participated in the Mother-Daughter Tea Survey. Over 78% of those who responded voted to have the event out so the event will be held at an off-site location this year.
This past week our 1st grade enjoyed an in-house trip with Imagination Creation. The children enjoyed learning all about our American roots!
This coming week we look forward to 8th Grade’s visit to St. Joseph by the Sea High School on Tuesday, October 17th and the induction of the 2023 members of our chapter of the National Junior Honor Society members at 3:30 p.m. in the church that afternoon.
Our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students are looking forward to a trip to the Pumpkin Patch at the Ferry Hawks Stadium on Wednesday, October 18th.
We are thankful for the many students who have signed up to volunteer for the Halloween Party. Going forward, all requests to volunteer for a school event (e.g. Breakfast with Santa; Mother-Son Dance) should be sent to the Mother’s Club at [email protected].
The Father's Club will be hosting Monday Night Football at The Ole Swiss, 18 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308 from 8:00 pm to 11:00pm!
Please see the emailed IRIS Alert for boxes and payment information.
