When reflecting on this week’s Gospel (Mk 12:38-44 or 12:41-44) I was reminded that we are called to give all that we are. Sometimes, it is just plain hard to do so. It may feel that we are swimming upstream. Years ago, on a hike in Alaska, I actually saw salmon swimming upstream. What amazed me was that the salmon were indeed able to push through, persevere and do the seemingly unthinkable. May the Holy Spirit give us strength through hard times.
On Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the CYO Shining Star Award Ceremony. Congratulations to 4th grade student JoieAnn Rivero, this year’s recipient for St. Clare. We are so proud of you!
I was recently made aware of the untimely passing of Xaverian teacher, Mrs. Jennifer West and her unborn child. Mrs. West is survived by her husband, Samuel and her 7 year old son Jeremiah. Please keep Mrs. West’s family in your prayers. Donations for Jeremiah can be made at Zelle: 718.344.3870 or Venmo: West-Family2024.
Our Jr. Giving Circle club is now underway. The Christmas Fair will be here before we know it! Please continue to send in donations of unopened toys and gift items that you may have at home for Lucky Straw. The children love it! Lucky Straw donations can be sent in with students or dropped off at the school. Thank you for your support!
Thanksgiving Pie orders are due November 13th. We appreciate your support of this and our other fundraisers as all of our fundraising efforts help us to keep tuition costs down. This year pie orders are significantly lower than last year. Please consider purchasing delicious Alphonso's pies to add to your Thanksgiving celebration.
We look forward with joyful anticipation to Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 7th. Be on the lookout for a flyer with more information that will be sent home early this coming week.
Report Cards will be posted for students in grades K - 8 on November 20th. Please be sure that tuition payments are up-to-date so that a report card can be received.
All immunization and health records should have been submitted to the school office. Please be sure that your child is in compliance as Public Health Law Section 2164 requires exclusion from school if proof of immunizations is not on file. Kindly note that all students who will not turn 5 by 12/31/24 are required to receive a flu vaccine by December 31st. Students will not be allowed to attend classes if the flu vaccine has not been received by the required date.
This week several of our classes were treated to a visit by Mr. Nunez, 3rd grade and Kindergarten parent. Please pray and give thanks for our Veterans and their families on Monday as we honor them for their service and sacrifice.
