11/17/24
Dear School Families,
This week’s Gospel (Mk 13:24-32) provides a message of hope as we await the second coming of Christ. May we all be filled with hope this week.
A shout out to our girl scouts who have been busy completing various service projects. Troop 5344 recently raised $800 in support of American Cancer Society’s work to fight breast cancer. Troops 5344, 5522, and 5399 also participated in the Baby Born event. The event is held in honor of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts, birthday. The troops made 5 baskets which were presented to the first baby girl born at Staten Island Hospital on October 31st. A new troop for Kindergarten students is forming now. Please call the school office if you are interested.
A special thank you to Girl Scout Leaders Mrs. Scandariato, Mrs. Dodd, Mrs. Clifford, Mrs. Romano, Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Cain, and Mrs. Salvaggio for providing wonderful service opportunities for our girl scouts.
We have been notified that a bill pending in the NYC Council will remove the 300 student minimum and permit nearly all non-public schools to be reimbursed for a security guard(s). The Catholic Action Network has created an alert to gain support for this initiative. Please click on this link (https://www.nyscatholic.org/action-center?vvsrc=%2FCampaigns%2F118848%2FRespond) to lend your support.
Calling all St. Clare School Alumni! We are in the process of organizing an Alumni Event for June 28, 2025. We need your help spreading the word. Please call the school office if you are interested in being a contact for your graduating class.
A flyer for our Christmas Wreath memorial fundraiser was recently sent out via Flocknote. Be sure to place your order early as there are a limited number of wreaths available. Please call the school office if you have any questions. Special thanks to Mrs. Contino for overseeing this fundraiser.
There will be extended hours for our Christmas Fair this year. Students who return to the fair with an adult between 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. will be able to dress down on Friday, December 6th. We appreciate all of the planning and hard work that our parents have put into organizing this event. Thanks also to Mrs. Gardella for overseeing the fair vendors.
Thank you to all of our parents who participated in the recent Leader in Me survey. The Leader In Me Lighthouse team is in the process of analyzing the results to move our Leader in Me journey forward. Team leaders have also been hard at work adding team members to their respective teams as Ms. Adinolfi continues to introduce our students to the 7 habits.
Report Cards will be posted for students in grades K - 8 on November 20th. Please be sure that tuition payments are up-to-date so that a report card can be received.
There will be a 12:00 dismissal day for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 21st from 1:00 - 2:30 and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Conferences will be held virtually. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have not received a conference time.
All immunization and health records should have been submitted to the school office. Please be sure that your child is in compliance as Public Health Law Section 2164 requires exclusion from school if proof of immunizations is not on file. Kindly note that all students who will not turn 5 by 12/31/24 are required to receive a flu vaccine by December 31st. Students will not be allowed to attend classes if the flu vaccine has not been received by the required date.
Congratulations to our varsity cheerleaders who have received a bid to go to Disney! Well done!
A special thank you to Mrs. Scavuzzo, Mrs. Chiarizia, and our Mother’s Club officers, Mrs. Bongiorni, Mrs. Napolitano, Mrs. Greenblum, and Mrs. Puliafito for organizing our Father- Son Event! A fun time was had by all!
