12/22/24
This week’s IRIS Alert will be shortened as we are now on break.
In this week’s Gospel (Lk 1:39-45), St. Luke recounts the story of Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth. During today’s 8:30 Mass, Father Arthur reflected on Mary’s humility and poverty, emphasizing that she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus. He reminded us of an important truth: we all matter to God. During this Advent and Christmas season, let us strive to show those less fortunate that they matter too.
Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., St. Clare Church will host the funeral for Sr. Rosemary Ward, a Presentation Sister and former principal of St. Clare School. The Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary were founded in 1775 in Ireland by Nano Nagle, who felt called by God to bring the light of faith to the poor children of Cork. Their dedication ultimately led to the founding of our school, where they faithfully served our community.
Attendance by faculty, staff, parents, and students would be a meaningful way to honor Sr. Rosemary and the Presentation Sisters, expressing our gratitude for their service and showing them that they matter. We would appreciate it if students who are able to attend wear their school uniforms.
Arrangements for Sr. Rosemary follow.
Have a blessed week!
Mrs. Olsen
