Dear School Families,
In one of the choices for this week’s second reading (Philippians 3:17—4:1), we read St. Paul urging the Phillippians to, “Join with others in being imitators of me, brothers and sisters, and observe those who thus conduct themselves according to the model you have in us.” In this passage, St. Paul is asking his readers to askew worldly goods as he himself has done, to follow Christ. This week, may the examples of others living out their faith inspire and guide our own actions.
We are looking forward to our first grade St. Patrick’s Day show, on Tuesday, March 18th at 8:30. Thank you Mrs. Barricella, Mrs. Rodriguez, Mrs. Goldstein, Mrs. Caputo, and Mrs. Capuano for preparing our students for their show!
Mass with the Cardinal celebrating the 100th year anniversary of our parish will take place on Saturday, March 29th, at 5:00 p.m. Our very own Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Miller are among those who will be honored at a reception following the Mass. School children in attendance are asked to wear their school uniforms.
Reminder emails will be sent out soon to those parents of current students who have not entered enrollment information for their children in the FACTS system. Please be sure to use a laptop, PC, or Chromebook (not phone) to enter the information.
Fashion Show ticket sales have been extended until Friday, March 21st. Please come out to support this important fundraiser! Amazon gift cards and scratch offs are also still being accepted for this event.
Congratulations to our cheerleaders on their performance in the CYO Island Championships. Vicki John, Director of St. Clare Cheerleading, has shared that the girls did a wonderful job with the Debs team placing 2nd and the JV and Varsity teams placing 1st. The Varsity team was also named grand champions. Our Biddy team did an outstanding job in their exhibition. We wish the cheerleaders continued success in next week’s state competition.
All student members of St. Clare sports teams may wear their team warm-ups on Monday, March 24th in celebration of their hard work this season.
Our Mother - Daughter event is just around the corner. Please be on the lookout for a flyer with more information for the April 12th event.
Recently, several students have not had headphones which are needed at times for technology work. Please be sure that your child (grades 3 - 8) has headphones with them. Also, please note Chromebooks (not iPads) should be used in grades 4 - 8 as iPads are often not compatible with programs that are used in class. Our teachers have also reported that students seem to be more easily distracted with iPads.
Our students in grades 3 - 8 are working hard and preparing for the upcoming state test! We’re so proud of their dedication and effort. You can support your child by encouraging good study habits, ensuring plenty of rest, and keeping a positive mindset. Together, we can help them feel confident and ready to do their best!.
Students may dress in green on Monday, March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day. No ripped jeans, slides, or cropped tops, please.
There will be no school on Friday, March 28th as school is closed for a religion conference day.
Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for your child's academic success. Excessive absences can lead to gaps in learning, making it difficult for students to keep up with their coursework. Additionally, arriving late to class or leaving early can be disruptive, not only for your child but also for the entire class.
We kindly ask for your support in ensuring your child attends regularly, arrives at school on time, and does not leave early. If your child must be absent due to illness or an emergency, please notify the school by calling the school absence line at (718) 356-4965.
Thank you for your cooperation in fostering a productive learning environment for all students.
A list of upcoming events follows.
Have a blessed week!
Mrs. Olsen
