3/3/24
Dear School Families,
This weekend was certainly a busy one at St. Clare. On Friday night we celebrated our student models at our spectacular fashion show. We so greatly appreciate the efforts of Mrs. Bongiorni, Mrs. Napolitano, our class representatives, and parent and faculty/staff volunteers for making the night a huge success!
On Saturday evening, Mrs. Griffo and I had the delightful opportunity to attend the Cheerleader Pep Rally. Witnessing the exuberant spirit of the girls was truly uplifting, and their impressive athletic performances left us in awe! Here's to carrying that same spirited energy throughout the week ahead!
Lastly, our 7th grade boys CYO basketball team will be competing in the championship game on Sunday afternoon. We wish them the best of luck!
This weekend followed an eventful school week as well.
A special thank you to our 2nd grade students, Ms. Revello, Mrs. Rodriguez, Mrs. Barricella, Mr. Poppe, Fr. Arthur, and Seminarian Joe for a lovely Mass.
On Wednesday evening we were pleased to have Agnes McBeth, Community Liaison from the District Attorney’s office, and Mrs. Ivonia Miller, our ADAPP counselor, present at our Mothers Club Meeting. Mrs. McBeth shared many resources with those in attendance during her insightful presentation. One of the resources recommended for parents was the documentary Childhood 2.0, on the dangers of social media. The documentary can be found at https://www.childhood2movie.com/.
Mrs. Miller shared information about our ADAPP program at St. Clare. Mrs. Miller is onsite on Thursdays and can be reached at [email protected] should you have any questions.
The meeting ended with a powerful brief talk by Seminarian Joe Haas. Seminarian Joe reminded us of the importance of sharing the message with our children that they are all the sons and daughters of God. There is no love more powerful.
Mrs. Griffo has asked me to share that we are in need of Jr. Lectors. Please contact Mrs. Griffo ([email protected]) if your child would like to volunteer to be a lector at 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays.
Our drama program is set to begin on March 4th. Those who registered will receive information directly from Spotlight Theatre.
Please be advised that the DOT has reached out to let us know that Lindenwood Road will be repaved during the week of March 11 -March 15. They will be working from 7:00 pm - 3:00 am. This should not impact the school as it is after school hours.
Our Parish Mission will take place this coming Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening, March 4th - 6th at 7:30 p.m. in the church. This year, we welcome back The Renewal Team of The Bronx Catholic Charismatic Center and Bishop Espaillat. Please join us for this inspiring experience. Our teachers will be assigning limited homework this week to make it easier for parents to attend the mission. Students are encouraged to attend as well.
PreK Spring Photos will be taken on Wednesday, March 6th.
The deadline for gift cards for the Dad’s Club Radio Bingo Dress Down Day is Friday, March 8th. The dress down day will be on Wednesday, March 13th. Please see the recently sent out Flocknote for more details.
During this lenten season we are called to pray, fast, and give alms. Please support our parish lenten mission by supporting the collection for our sister church in Haiti. An article about this program was recently posted in The Good News Room (https://thegoodnewsroom.org/staten-island-parish-collecting-funds-for-sister-church-in-haiti/).
Whole School Reconciliation for grades 3 - 8 has been rescheduled to Monday, March 18th.
Reminder: Nail polish should not be worn in school.
With spring in the air and thoughts of summer vacation not far behind, our students may find it more difficult to concentrate on their studies. Parents please encourage your students and support them in making their school work an important priority.
A list of upcoming events follows.
Have a blessed week!
Mrs. Olsen
