Dear School Parents,
Today is the sixth Sunday of Easter. In today’s Gospel (Jn 14:15-21) Jesus tells the disciples that he will send the Holy Spirit. May the Holy Spirit inspire us to share the love of Christ with others.
Yesterday our beautiful second graders received their First Holy Communion! Thank you to Ms. Revello and Mrs. Rodriguez for preparing them so well and to Mrs. Barricella and Mr. Poppe for their musical guidance. A special thanks to Father Arthur for an engaging homily that I’m sure our students will never forget.
Thank you to Mrs. Abruzzo and Mrs. Vella for organizing a wonderful Muffins with Mom. It was a lovely time for all.
Our 8th grade students enjoyed their trip to Broadway to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. A special thanks to Mrs. Kneeshaw and Mrs. Miller for not only organizing the day but for also serving as tour guides.
Thank you to Mrs. Gardella, Mrs. Bongiorni, Mrs. Wilkie, and all of the parent volunteers for our plant sale. It was a delightful way to celebrate spring.
This is the last call for the Summer Art Program.
Mrs. Wildrick let us know that the collection for our sister school in Haiti surpassed its $4,000 goal. Thanks to all who contributed. Mrs. Wildrick created a lovely display for our church that shows the students in Haiti receiving the Easter messages that our school children prepared for them. A picture of the display can be found on the Iris Alert posted to our school website.
We appreciate your understanding and support as our dedicated teachers diligently work on next year's placements. While we strive to accommodate requests for students to be placed with their friends, it's crucial for us to consider the overall composition of each class and address the academic requirements of all our students.
As in previous years, we want to inform you that there will be no changes to student placements. We have observed a growing number of parent requests this year, which can pose challenges for our teachers in making well-informed placement decisions that cater to the needs of all students. Please understand that we cannot guarantee these requests as our teachers rely on their professional judgment to create the most suitable educational environment for each student.
We genuinely value the partnership between parents and teachers in ensuring the best possible educational experience for our students. We kindly ask for your continued trust in our teachers' expertise and their commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all.
Our 4th grade students are looking forward to their in-house Imagination Creation trip on Tuesday, May 16th and our 8th grade students will participate in the 8th grade Staten Island Catholic School Mass on Wednesday, May 17th. 8th grade students are reminded to wear winter uniforms with school sweaters and school dress shoes.
There will be a 6th grade movie night at 3:45 p.m. in the school auditorium on Wednesday, May 17th. The students may be dropped off at the school entrance for a viewing of The Lorax. Pick-up will be at the school entrance at 5:30 p.m. 6th grade students are invited to bring snacks (peanut free) and dress comfortably. They may bring pillows or blankets as they will be sitting on the auditorium floor. Mrs. Griffo and I will provide supervision. Thank you to 6th grade students Ella Carpenito and Sienna Iannota for organizing this event!
