Our school year is off to a wonderful start! Father Jacob organized a procession of the Blessed Sacrament to each classroom in the ‘big school’, blessing every student, staff member, and school space. Fr. Jacob was joined by Fr. Arthur, Fr. Brendan, Deacon Salhaney, altar servers, and Regional Superintendent Jann Amato as Jesus was reverently welcomed into each room by our students. We are thankful for such a moving start to our school year.
On Saturday, Mrs. Griffo and I were happy to see so many of our school families at the parish’s Fall Festival. The festival was a fun-filled day of games and memory making activities! A special thank you to Mrs. Gerri Smith for organizing the event.
As parents and guardians, we model living our faith for our children. With that in mind, please do not block our neighbors' driveways during morning drop off, afternoon pick-up or after school activities. Children will remain with a staff member while you safely park your car in a legal parking space. The drop-off and pick for cheer has been changed to help facilitate proper parking. Vicki John has sent out information about the new procedure. Please be considerate of our neighbors.
This week, there will be orientation meetings on Monday evening for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6, and on Tuesday evening for grades 2 and 7.
Basketball tryouts begin this week. Please see the basketball page of the parish website (www.stclaresi.com) for more information.
An IESP Informational meeting for parents of students with services will be held on September 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the school auditorium.
Reminder: the class rep interest form will be closing on 9/11/24. Submissions are still needed for Class 6-2, PreK 4-3, and PreK 3-3. Submissions are still welcome for all other classes as well.
Be on the lookout for more information on the Dad’s Club’s Night at the Races which is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th.
We look forward to our first school Mass this coming Friday which will be led by our 8th grade students. As this is our first mass of the year, parents please email your child’s homeroom teacher if they require a gluten free host. We are thankful to Mackenzie Clifford for serving as our student liturgical leader this year. Mackenzie will help organize all of our school liturgies in her new role.
The parish yearly Backpack Mass will take place this coming Sunday, September 15th at 10 a.m. All students are encouraged to come to Mass with their backpack for a blessing.
A list of upcoming events follows.
May God bless us in all we do this week!
