Week of 3/14/22
Dear St. Clare Families,
Happy Sunday!
As we look forward to another busy week at St. Clare, I would like to mention a few joyful happenings from last week.
Students from class 2-1 received the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Thank you Fr. Arthur, Fr. Brendan, Fr. Joseph, Fr. Jacob, Seminarian William, Mrs. Griffo, Ms. Revello, Ms. Meager, Mrs. O’Brien, and Mr. Poppe for a lovely service.
Our 7th Grade students attended their Confirmation Retreat. The event, led by Array of Hope, was a very inspiring afternoon of prayer and reflection. Thank you to Mrs. O’Brien and to our teachers Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Vautrinot, and Mrs. Continanzi for coordinating the event.
Our St. Clare Cheerleaders had a wonderful showing at the CYO Island Cheer Competition on Saturday, March 12th. Our Biddies did a wonderful job in their exhibition. Our Debs and Varsity teams were spectacular with the Debs placing 1st in the non-stunt division and our Varsity placing 1st in their division. The Varsity team was also named Overall Cheer Champions and Grand Champions! A special thank you to their coaches and to Vicki John for all of their work with the teams and with the cheer program overall.
Our Parish Lenten Mission will take place this Monday, March 14th through Wednesday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m. in the church. The mission will be led by Bishop Joseph Espaillat. Bishop Espaillat and his team led our mission last year when he was Father Espaillat (Congratulations Bishop!). I had the pleasure of attending the mission last year. It was truly uplifting! I encourage you to attend.
We are also looking forward to our 1st graders’ St. Patrick’s Day Play on Thursday, March 17th, and our PreK students’ Spring Show on Friday, March 18th.
Have a Blessed Week!
Mrs. Olsen
