Dear School Families,
Last week, Mrs. Griffo and I attended a bi-annual principal meeting. During the meeting, Bishop Espaillat gave an inspiring keynote presentation on the Eucharistic Revival. Bishop Espaillat reminded us that receiving Christ in the Eucharist during Mass fortifies us as Catholics. His presentation reminded me of a wonderful class my husband and I attended several years ago here at St. Clare. During the class, Word on Fire’s The Mass, we were reminded that while the power of Christ is present in all sacraments, Christ himself is present in the Eucharist. It is during the Eucharistic Prayer that “..the priest's narration of the Last Supper moves from a third person retelling to a First Person proclamation when the celebrant, acting in persona Christi, intones Christ's own words ("This is my body"). Who among us would not want to spend time with our Lord or be fortified by receiving him in the Eucharist? One simply needs to attend Mass to do so.
Congratulations to 3rd grade student, Ryan Buddensick, on his Shining Star award!
