12/3/24
Dear School Families,
Today is the 1st Sunday of Advent, the beginning of the liturgical year. Advent is a time of preparation, we prepare for Christ’s second coming and to celebrate his birth. Father Jacob will be sharing Advent Reflections with our school families, offering meditations, actions, and prayers to guide us in drawing nearer to Christ throughout this sacred season.
Our school children will participate in Jesse Tree services and Whole School Reconciliation (grades 3 - 8) in the coming weeks. Our school Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th, will be led by our 5th graders. We look forward to these activities during this season of preparation.
School pictures were distributed on Friday. Tuesday, December 5th will be picture retake day. Please return your child’s pictures on Tuesday if you would like their picture to be retaken. Please note, the class picture should not be returned.
We are looking forward to Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 9th. Our PreK 3 and PreK 4 Class Reps have been hard at work planning a wonderful event for our young students (PreK - Grade 4).
Please send in the Christmas Craft money if you haven’t already done so.
Pizza is back in the big school! Pizza will be offered via the lunch program on Wednesday, December 6th and Thursday, December 14th. Check out the lunch menu posted on the school website for the complete monthly schedule.
Our maintenance staff has begun hanging our memorial wreaths. The wreaths are a nice way of remembering loved ones this Christmas season. A few wreaths are still available for purchase. A special thank you to Mrs. Contino for organizing this program.
December 8th is the last day to order Candy Cane Grams. See School Events on the school website (school.stclaresi.com) for the order form.
Immunization Notice
All PreK students are required to receive a flu vaccine and provide proof of immunization prior to return to school on 1/3/24 after our Christmas break.
Per NY State law, proof of all physical exams and immunizations required as per the New York State Immunization Requirements for School Entrance/Attendance must be filed with the school nurse. A document listing the requirements may be found on the Parent Memos page of the school website.
This week, we were grateful to receive two heartwarming expressions of gratitude. Evelyn Kormanik, the founder of the Staten Island Giving Circle, extended her appreciation to our Jr. Giving Circle members and our school community for the generous donation of almost 1,000 pounds of candy and cards for Veterans. Additionally, Sarah Chaudry, the Executive Director of Cops Care for Kids, shared a heartfelt note of thanks for the tremendous response to the Cops for Kids Toy Drive. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone for their incredible generosity!
Have a blessed week!
Mrs. Olsen
