Dear School Families.
In this week’s Gospel (John 21:1–19), Jesus asks Peter three times, “Do you love me?” Each time Peter responds with love, Jesus entrusts him with a mission: “Feed my lambs,” “Tend my sheep,” and “Feed my sheep.” This powerful exchange serves as a reminder of the sacred responsibility entrusted to our priests, bishops, cardinals, and pope—to lovingly shepherd God’s people. As the College of Cardinals prepares to enter the Papal Conclave on May 7th, may the Holy Spirit guide their hearts and decisions.
An outstanding time was had by all at Radio Bingo on Saturday night! A special thank you to the Dad’s Club members, especially Mr. Ficchi, Mr. Weaver, Mr. Romano, Mr. Barricella, Mr. Vallejo, and Mr. Volpe, for organizing a spectacular event. They were supported in their efforts by Mrs. Ficchi, Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Romano, Mrs. Barricella, Mrs. Vallejo, Mrs. Volpe, and our parent volunteers. Thanks too to all of our St. Clare families who supported the event.
Our 2nd graders had a wonderful time at their communion retreat on Friday, May 2nd! Our prayers are with them as they receive their First Holy Communion next Saturday. While tickets are not required, we ask each family to limit the number of attendees to 6, including parents. A photographer from Yearbook Innovation will be in the STREAM lab at 9:30 if you would like to have your child’s picture taken.
6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be taking the math state exam on Tuesday, May 6th and Wednesday, May 7th. Grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the exam next Monday, May 12th, and Tuesday, May 13th. Please note that school devices may not be borrowed during testing.
Our PreK 3 and PreK 4 students are looking forward to honoring their moms and the special women in their lives on Wednesday, May 7th. A special thank you to Mrs. Abruzzo, our PreK teachers and aides, and our PreK class reps, for organizing a lovely day!
A special thank you to Mrs. Gardella and our Mothers’ Club officers, Mrs. Bongiorni, Mrs. Napolitano, and Mrs. Greenblum for organizing our plant sale which will take place on Friday, May 9th. We also appreciate the creativity and hard work of our craft moms, spearheaded by Mrs. Festa, who have made beautiful items for the sale.
Scholastic books will also be available for purchase at the sale. A special thank you to Mrs. Bonavita, Mrs. DeVito, Mrs. Wilkinson, Mrs. Bannon, and Mrs. Greenblum, for organizing and manning the book fair section of the plant sale.
A Flocknote was recently sent out with the schedule of class shopping times. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
